A favorite place of mine, I've painted at this location several times before. This painting is done from memory using only horizontal of vertical brushstrokes. The effect is one of pixilation, or even of a "filter" or "effect" produced via digital editing. Pixels as building blocks of today's images. There is tension of viewing the natural this way. The calm of another level of nature ordered by man. Up close it is a painterly filter, of modern orthogonality, reflection and color, two taller "trees" respond to a memory of lower Manhattan ... perhaps...
